Season Eleven is off to a great start!
We had a great launch event last week and a great discussion about the value of deep vs broad connection. If you missed the film CONNECTED, you can watch it on iTunes here. You can also watch the livestream archive of the post-screening discussion here. And read through the tweetchat here.
Up Next: Google and the World Brain November 27
Our next event is on Wednesday November 27th and we are thrilled to present the Victoria premiere of a very important and very chilling film Google and the World Brain.
UPDATE Nov 14, 2013 Today U.S. Circuit Judge Denny Chin dismissed a lawsuit from the Authors Guild, ruling that Google’s Book Project constituted fair use under the law. Paul Aiken, the Authors Guild’s executive director, said in a statement today that the ruling is a “fundamental challenge” to copyrights and that his group plans to appeal. Read more about this troubling and precedent-setting decision here and here.
Here’s what filmmaker Ben Lewis said in response: Holy S**t. No doubt the next US court judgement will be that snooping on everyone’s emails, phonecalls, facebook and skype communications is also legal.” Our discussion panel will have a lot to say about all this. Don’t miss this event!
