Season Ten Launches with a Canadian Premiere: Symphony of the Soil

While we enjoy the fabulous hot weather, the OPEN CINEMA team are busy preparing for Season Ten, which launches on October 3rd, 2012!

Season 10? How did that happen?

We are so excited to celebrate our first decade with the Canadian Premiere (!!) of Symphony of the Soil – a new feature documentary by Deborah Koons Garcia (The Future of Food, 2004), who will be in attendance at the event.

This will be the fourth in our Cinema in Season series, in collaboration with FoodRoots and supported by our financial angel Vancity. Have we mentioned recently how much we love Vancity?

We are so honoured to welcome filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia for the second time in OPEN CINEMA’s history. We screened The Future of Food at OPEN CINEMA in 2005, so it is fitting to have her here for our big season 10 launch! In addition, we have an amazing panel of speakers for the event; Robin Tunnicliffe, organic farmer, co-author All the Dirt; Heidi Hermary, Gaia College and Alan Dolan, Alan Dolan Communications.

New Livestreaming and Twitter Chat

And new for season 10, we’ll be livestreaming the post-screening discussion on our Live page, right here on the OPEN CINEMA website! And to add to our online offerings, Mat Wright and Angela Hemming will be moderating a live Twitter chat, so follow the hashtag #OCchats. It’s going to be so much fun!
