Now starting its twelfth successful season, OPEN CINEMA is dedicated to the innovative use of cinema as a tool for community engagement. Screenings of documentaries in café-style venues are followed by open forum discussion with invited guests. Live events are amplified using virtual engagement and streaming tools, creating a hybrid cinema experience to Connect the Docs! OPEN CINEMA is a program of MediaNet in Victoria, BC.

OPEN CINEMA is evolving to Connect the Docs!

Join us live or online for our next extended 'hybrid cinema' experience during March, featuring the award-winning documentary THE SECRET TRIAL 5, that explores Canadians imprisoned without trial under 'security certificates', a chilling foreshadow to Bill C-51.

Engage with the filmmakers and discuss the issues as they journey across Canada between March 12-25, via hashtag #ST5film. Then join us for their West coast finale screening in Vancouver on March 25; we'll webcast the post-screening discussion with the filmmakers on the OPEN CINEMA LIVE page, and bring the online #ST5film discussion to a crescendo.

Or watch the film online anytime!

Find out more here.

See you at the hybrid movies!
